The Association of ACEs with Accelerated Epigenetic Aging in Midlife
About
This webinar, part of the ACEs Aware Science and Innovation Speaker Series, features Dr. Brian Joyce, who will present on “The Association of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) with Accelerated Epigenetic Aging in Midlife.” Dr. Joyce will talk about how ACEs may be persistently associated with the biological aging process in later life.
Learning Objectives
- Define epigenetic age acceleration
- Identify a few DNA methylation-based Epigenetic Age Acceleration (EAA) measurements known to be associated with biological aging and long-term health
- Explain the association between ACEs and EAA
Professional Credit
- This activity provides the following types of credit: AAPA, APA, AMA, ANCC, ASWB, ABIM-MOC, ABP-MOC.

Featuring
Brian Joyce, PhD is a molecular epidemiologist whose research focuses on identifying epigenetic biomarkers of health-related environmental exposures and behaviors (pollutants, diet, exercise, etc.), and social drivers of health, with age-related chronic diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease using data collected from population cohort studies. He specializes in the use of epidemiologic methods to integrate a broad range of knowledge-spanning biology, statistics, psychosocial and quality-of-life measures, nutrition, and environmental studies to develop early detection biomarkers for chronic diseases.
