Frequently asked questions
How do I complete the Becoming ACEs Aware in California training?
To complete the training, you must complete each of the four (4) steps on the training pathway. The first step is to watch an introductory video. Steps two and three consist of walking through hypothetical introductory and specialty "cases". You must complete one (1) introductory case and four (4) specialty cases. The final step is to complete an online evaluation of the training.
How do I receive credit?
Everyone who completes Becoming ACEs Aware in California will receive a certificate of completion. Those who need/want continuing education credit can also download that credit in a variety of forms (APA, AMA, etc.). Additional continuing education credit can be obtained by completing additional cases beyond the minimum required by the Becoming ACEs Aware in California core training. You can also check out a more detailed explanation of what credit is offered and how we award it.
Can I earn additional continuing education units if I complete more cases?
Yes! You have the option to complete additional cases for 0.5 continuing education credit per case.
How long should the Becoming ACES Aware In California training take me to complete?
The training should require about two (2) hours. If you wish to complete additional cases (e.g., for additional continuing education credit), we estimate each case should take roughly 30 minutes.
Will my progress be saved if I stop and return to the training later?
Yes, you do not have to complete the training in one sitting. You may save you progress and return to where you left off in the course at any time.
How do clinicians attest that they have completed the training?
Medi-Cal providers who intend to receive Medi-Cal payment for ACE screenings must complete the Becoming ACEs Aware in California training and provide their National Provider Identifier (NPI) information as part of the training evaluation. DHCS maintains a list of clinicians who have attested to completing the training – that list can be accessed by managed care plans so they know who is certified to receive Medi-Cal payment for conducting ACE screenings.
