Dr. Lee is seeing her next patient, Diana, at the University Health Center clinic. She has provided care for Diana over the past year.
Dr. Lee greets Diana
Dr. Lee: So, how are you? And what brings you in today, Diana?
Diana: I am not doing that well. It's actually embarrassing, but I've been having really bad diarrhea this last month.
Dr. Lee: I'm sorry to hear that. Can you tell me more?
Diana, nodding: It seems to happen at random times during the day. I've had a little bit of cramping, too. I also have to run to the bathroom a few minutes after I eat anything. That's never happened to me before.
Dr. Lee spends time during the visit asking whether Diana has any other associated symptoms, to determine the potential causes of the diarrhea. However, Diana does not note any other changes.
